lyrics

These crows follow me home
Back through the fields our fathers roamed
But we never go home

Black feathers flown
Now jumbled in the hedgerow
Let your wild hair go

We will clamber and groan
Scramble over stones
Trample through the gloam
Although the birds have flown we will never go home

Through the thickets we've been tripping
On these thorns our clothes are ripping
And our wellies have been slipping in the mud

And the mushrooms we have been kicking
and the berries we've been licking
And the leaves we have been picking from the bud

Whether jack or queen or king
The bramblers always win
We tear down everything

We will ramble and roam
We're the brambles and the brome
Tangled and overgrown
Though our bones moan
We will never go home

These old corroded oak leaves
Are rusted to the trees
I hear the rustle of their whispers in the breeze

And the dust of lost memories
And long forgotten keys
Bring only disgust to the iridescent thieves

Over walls we'll stumble
We tumble down and crumble
But we never go home

We will ramble and roam
We're the brambles and the brome
Tangled and overgrown
Though our bones groan
We will not go home

Through the road bends
It wanders winds and wends
But it never ends

And though we're on our own
We are not alone
Like a river we will flow
Along the longest road we've ever known
